A big part of growing up for me was becoming aware of the things that separated me from everyone else. I often felt as if I lived in a completely different world than the people around me. I perceived my surroundings differently. I thought along different lines. And I found that communicating my perspective was usually impossible.
Now I'm in my forties and not so much has changed. I still live in a fundamentally different world than the one most people inhabit. But I've also discovered that there are a great many others out there who are similarly incompatible with mainstream reality. Although we may make up just a tiny fraction of the total population, our numbers have been growing more and more quickly, especially since the official story totally fell apart during the pandemic.
There probably aren't enough of us to change society's direction at this point. But that doesn't mean we should just accept the dystopia being imposed upon us. We can create bubbles of sanity within the dystopia in a variety of ways. Eventually, maybe we can connect all of these bubbles of sanity with each other to form a more free and fair alternative to the norm.
At the same time, society as a whole does appear to be on the verge of something that may change everything. An inflection point, where converging systemic crises meet unprecedented technological sophistication. This inflection point could usher in a transformation of the underlying social and psychological imbalances that brought about the systemic crises in the first place, but this outcome is by no means guaranteed.
Breakthrough
If we want such a transformation to occur, what we really need is a breakthrough. Or many breakthroughs happening simultaneously on many levels. Three areas where I see the greatest breakthrough potential are psychedelic medicine, emerging technologies, and UFO disclosure.
Psychedelic Medicine
On the individual level, psychedelics break patterns of thinking and behavior. This has benefits and drawbacks. The downside is that appropriate patterns can be broken right along with more unhealthy patterns. The upside is that these medicines can disrupt unhealthy patterns that are deeply entrenched in a person's psychology. In practical terms, psychedelics can alleviate mental health issues that resist treatment by standard medications. Pairing these drugs with integration therapy mitigates their risks.
From the Independent:
In 2016, researchers from Imperial College London were the first to use brain scanning techniques to visualise how LSD alters the way the brain works. One key finding was that LSD had a disorganising influence on cortical activity, which permitted the brain to operate in a freer, less constrained manner than usual. The results suggested that psychedelics increase communication between parts of the brain that are less likely to communicate with one another, and decrease communication between areas that frequently do.
Emerging Technologies
On the social level, there are patterns of behavior that have been programmed into us by the control regime which are structurally reinforced by our technological ecology. This ecology was designed in part to keep us atomized and obedient. It does this by distorting the truth in a variety of ways. One of the most important contributions emerging technology can make to positive societal transformation is tools that make it possible to establish new shared truths.
IPFS allows data to be stored in a way that technically can't be tampered with or censored. This creates static shared truths. Blockchain makes it possible for us to create shared truths in time. Using a combination of just these two technologies, we could create a viable alternative to the legacy economy. Once there's an alternative like this in place, it will become feasible to disconnect from the financial realities that currently prevent us from doing anything that challenges the status quo.
At the same time, advances in AI and biotech are beginning to radically change our situation. These radical changes are a mixed bag. AI might free millions from cognitive tedium by making them unemployed. Biotech might extend the lifespans of the very wealthy while leaving the masses at the mercy of industrial medicine. And the new tech itself might be trippy enough to provoke a psychedelic response when we see it in action.
UFO Disclosure
On the level of society as a whole, UFO disclosure has immense disruptive potential. We know that the government is keeping information on the subject secret. So are black budget contractors. There are probably legitimate national security reasons for this. But it's 2024 and disclosing this information is clearly in the public interest. (Get involved here.)
Various technologies derived from recovered extraterrestrial crafts. Maybe alien biological material. There's strong evidence that these things and more are being kept under wraps. At minimum, energy and propulsion breakthroughs would likely come from disclosure. But the most important aspect of disclosure in my opinion would be its impact on consciousness.
Imagine the impact of everyone suddenly becoming aware that we're part of a galactic family and not merely apex predators who evolved by accident in an otherwise lifeless universe. Imagine the effect this would have on the relationships between nations. True, there might be some initial chaos as people adjusted to their new galactic context. But the new context could give rise to a new consciousness. And maybe to less nationalistic thinking and more planetary thinking.
Final Thoughts
Over time, old patterns inevitably give way to new ones. This is usually a gradual process, but there are moments when big changes happen suddenly, all at once. These moments may contain both breakthroughs and catastrophes. In our current societal moment, we're encouraged to focus only on the catastrophes while ignoring the breakthroughs. Maybe the breakthroughs happening right now and those on the horizon warrant more consideration.
